One is dead and one is alive.

I'm not even a fan of either of their works.

then why are you even trying to make dilla this pinnacle of beat makers?

In that realm (beat music), Dilla is better than Madlib. I personally would take Tip over both of those dudes if we're talking shea butter rap, though.

None of those guys are coming close to RZA, DJ Paul and Juicy J, and the more pop oriented guys like Kanye/ Neptunes/ Timbaland.

Dilla is not a "beat tape" artist.

He's a fully realized producer who had mad styles and is arguably the most gifted Beatmaker ever. True story. I know the bandwagoners have soured his legacy but he was tremendous.

The guy makes one beat tape as he's dying and jumped off a sub genre

I'd take Dilla and Madlib over everyone except for RZA (and I'd consider them to be on the same tier).

I feel you.

I just consider RZA to be the Northern analogue to DJ Paul and Juicy J. That sludgy, dusty, basement production. Nothing Madlib or Dilla ever produced in bulk ever gave me that kind of palpable soundscape.
