All I'm saying is that with the rise of Mike Will Made It and Chief Keef rapping over a faux Aphex beat on Citgo.... that stuff has to be considered proto-rap now... it just took longer to catch on than the Dilla/Madlib/DOOM stuff

All beat tapes after Dilla are derivative. Here are true classic compositions....

I was looking through my shyt, and I gotta agree. Aphex Twin was way ahead of his time:

So beautiful
:to:

And then so crazy:

You can hear his shyt in a lot of producers

If we go into different genres my list expands dramatically. I used to fukk with instrumental shyt real heavy back in the day:

I'll just leave these two here:

the 90s electronic scene is cool... those artists make such intense music though for the most part.

only old school electro I find myself coming back to regularly is The Orbs Adventures Beyond The Underworld. cause that shyt is actually something I can groove to

I think those 2 albums are, by far, more accessible than the typical Aphex record. Also, everyone should checkout Secret Frequency Crew, if they have never heard it.

Like I said, 99% of beat music after Dilla is just derivative

Gangrene is kind of cool, Alchemist, HudMo, etc but it's not really breaking any kind of ground.
