I heard originally it was something about not getting the sample cleared. Obviously times are different but I remember hearing a Larry June interlude a some years ago with the same sample wondering how he got the clearance damn near as an indie artist.
Per wiki:

A track titled "Tha Next Episode" was listed as the last track on the back cover of the first pressings, but not included in any pressing. It is considered the original material used for the 2000 Dr. Dre single "The Next Episode" but bears no resemblance to the later song. It was 4 minutes and 36 seconds (4:36) long.[38] "Tha Next Episode" was later released on the Dr. Dre mixtape Pretox under the name "Chronic Unreleased Studio Session", but only 1:10 long. "Doggystyle" featuring George Clinton was a 5:26 long outtake from the album sessions. It is a singing melody with vocals dominating the song and it extensively samples "Oh I" by Funkadelic from their album The Electric Spanking of War Babies. Jewell & The Brides of Funkenstein are featured on the chorus.[38] The song was released on Death Row: The Lost Sessions Vol. 1 amongst other songs recorded by Snoop Doggy Dogg during his tenure at Death Row.

We'll probably never get a CDQ unless some leak happens. Who even owns the masters to these songs at this point?

If it truly ended up on a CD version (I see the track listed on the back of some)

Then I'd happily donate to the cause to buy it and rip it.

It’s on Spotify now.

Sorry I thought you two were talking about Gz Up, Hoes Down not OG Next Episode.

:snoop:
Damn bro I was about to flip lol

Yea I've been looking for Tha Next Episode since 1999...I've grown to just appreciate the lower quality versions since who knows where the masters to this song even are in 2025.

Maybe in the next few years as AI gets more advanced, it'll be able to clean up the quality on what we have available

Found this Dr Dre produced Kurupt track on another forum. Had no idea it existed.

Curious as to what else there is out there, that is of a particularly high caliber, that I’ve been missing out on.

There’s actually a lot of unreleased Dre produced stuff on that YouTube channel. I never noticed when I posted this initially.

There is...generally speaking I haven't been a huge fan of the unreleased stuff. Since Dre is such a profectionist it seems like the best stuff did see the light, and the stuff they didn't release didn't hold up (there are of course exceptions).

Some artists like Mobb Deep & Nas have a leftovers/unreleased, B-Sides catalogue that is as good as the stuff they released, but to me, that doesn't necessarily describe Dre's unreleased catalogue.
