Did you just come home or something? Rappers have been blowing up off the strength of one song since Soulja Boy. Macklemore was in the underground for over a decade, Trinidad James & Bobby Shmurda were not.

and you can't really compare anyone to souljah boy, as garbage as he is, he revolutionized hip hop and the way the entire business is done, everybody is following his model to some extent even today. plus he was genuine

2) Eminem traveling the country and battling cats is well documented. Is he the 95-96 bulls of battle rapping? nobody is saying that...the point is that he wasn't an industry plant. that's the only point I was making.

but those types NEVER become true MC's unless they make albums and do shows.
and MOST freestylers dont make albums and dont do shows. they dont have it in them
