i wouldn't go that far, but hip hops' white fan base from the 2000's have clearly taken over

I can't speak for every black person in america, but I grew up around very few white people
the ones I did see were DIRT POOR. I mean like :ohhh: poor.

they weren't even thinking about rapping or doing music, life was just too real for them I guess

these are all suburban working class wanna-be's out here doing our music.
they've got the resources to bypass the actual grind and become bigger "stars" than the black rappers

this generation loves this in-authenticity though, I don't get it. :manny:
Hip hop is finished. Its been finished. This is the gentrification era of hip hop. Aside from what you just said, there aint any money for anyone in rap with the exception of 15% or less like Wake Up Now. Especially now that all these white rappers use their privilege and connections and numbers to get on. they dont even need to appeal to black audiences or get tyat cosign anymore it means nothing to them. They have no respect for black music and culture. They use it as a come up.

I always found it really odd how black men have gravitated towards rap to the point damn near every brotha want to be rapper or a ball player. And hip hop continues to make less money every year...meanwhile cacs took house and techno and rock and every other genre we make and make us look like the outsiders. and now we have to play their games just to get ahead in something that was ours as black folks. It pisses me off to no end!

thats what white people do though.

they see black art and culture from a distance but cant infiltrate from within so they use their money and control to buy it. Next thing they take our art, music, culture, mass produce it, make money from it...and shut us out from competing. Like the legal MJ game and the Tech Industry.

actress is one of the dopest producers ever. Ive been fukking with that Levantis sidd project he did on Ninja Tune. Don't even get me started on Zomby he has been making heat for ages!
I still remember the first time I heard spliff dub a decade ago now (:wow:) and seeing zomby threaten to stab man like ben ufo on dubstepforum when they bucked up about him not being arsed to send them the 12"'s they'd brought off him, and ben ufo said even if he made tunes as good as mala's he'd never play anything from him again...

and that reminds me about mala, when I asked him face to face at dmz to release eyez vip and he said there'd be a 5% chance he would, and then he dropped it 2 months later :wow:...I still believe to this day I had a hand in that vinyl getting released...let me cut this one sided convo short breh, I got too musch history with thsi uk underground sh1t and I'm starting to get in my feels :mjcry:

omg. I never thought i would hear anybody mention mala, benufo or digital mystikz on thecoli. Lol. I was heavy into the dubstep scene when it was just in the UK around the first/second grime wave when it was just restricted to forums like dubstepforum (i used to post on there for a bit)...then around 2010 shyt just got weird. All of the old hyperdub releases from back then, the deep medi musik 12"s, and the dmz stuff was and still is amazing.

you're talking to a dmz/fwd>>/plastic peoples/fabric/eskimo dance...you name it veteran brah...I have around 400+ dubstep and around 200+ grime vinyls

I fuccin do dis uk underground sh1t

I survived until around just after mala released mala in cuba in 2012...I had enough once a fraud like compa was getting big looks and had the nerve to remix dmz tunes without permission and distance was allowing guys like sleeper and district to release the most blandest sh1t ever. Youngsta's rinse sets just became to much of a bore and I got tired of coki not recognising when he was making a sh1t track, loefah not recognising he was ruining the uk underground scene with swamp 81 and brostep becoming what was considered the default version of dubstep :snoop:

lol word. especially brostep ruining dubstep. and turning into rap/rock almost. lol. I liked Mala In Cuba. The old benga and coki stuff was dope. Skream's early stuff was cool too but last time I checked he was playing like disco house and doing ibiza gigs.

right now Id have to say the uk scene >>>>>> the us scene.

grime is popping hard right now the new stuff.is hella interesting to me now that its like trap/drill inspired.
rinse fm and bbc radio 1 and all of their channels have better broadcasts to listen to.

Im in NYC now. Living in Brooklyn. Like its cool cause artists from all over the world come here. But most of these cats that come here and make music are making somw pretentious lifeless stuff but it gets press cause their friends run blogs and venues.
:scust:

boiler room nyc was actually filming next door at that same club...im trying to do a boiler room set for reals.

:banderas:

I feel you brah...what alias do you go under? Do you produce and DJ or just DJ? London is fully dead tbh in a general point of view and has been since 2011...swamp81 really did a number on the city :wow:

The most interesting stuff going on is novelist's tugg set/vision crew ruff sound movement (him making 'grime' at 160bpm)...if you're not familiar the best set is the ruff sound showcase he did on nts radio like a month back

rewriting history with this one huh. Bieber came in making ultra pop music for teenage girls.. and so did Timberlake. they may have crossed into hip-hop aspects of music later on, but that isnt how they got big. NSYNC was huge.

I see your point. I still think Justin Timberlake wouldn't have a successful solo career without Timbaland's production though. They keyword is N'sync was huge. That's a fickle fanbase that isn't always going to follow when the lead goes solo. He needed a sound that ensured him longevity and also legitimize him as a solo artist. When you look at what Tim and The Neptunes were doing in Urban music during the time, him getting them to helm and entirely produce his albums was a no-brainer. He needed a sound that could not only get him hit records, but also get him a loyal fanbase as a solo artist. Still, I don't lump him in with the likes Pink and Bieber because up until the new song he put out, he's catered to R&B audiences with every album he's put out as a solo artist.

Bieber tried the R&B thing and was even trying to transition into rap. Journals was his try at R&B, but it didn't get him the hits even though some on here ate it up. Kanye threw him on a song with Rae and that didn't go over well either. There was talks of him droppin' a rap album, which DJ Premier was real vocal about because there was talks that Luda was going to write the whole thing. Premo was like :camby:. That pretty much deaded Bieber's rap career.
