I used to work out in Shoreditch. They got a bunch of grimey council estates all around there (Bethnal Green, Stepney, Hackney, etc) but its probably a lot better than Newham and that whole area is on the come up anyway, it has been for over 10 years.

Give it a couple of years and even grimey Tottenham is going to be upscale. I have a cousin who lives in one of the flats by White Hart Lane and apparently they're gonna move everyone out and demolish them in the near future. That's why they're totally revamping Tottenham Hale with that ridiculous and confusing one way system that's made traffic 5 times worse and fixing the place up - they're basically pulling a New York move. Because it has the football grounds and several tube/train stations which make it easy to get to the city, they want to get all the poor folks out and move rich folk in. Soon you will get fancy expensive condos where tramps and drug addicts used to dwell.
Saying all that though, the place does need a major clean up in some parts because a lot of it is just.
the high road and fore street are really a dump I hope they do something because its worse than ever.
