You'd visit pornhub, authenticate with some service that would send a token to pornhub verifying that you're of age and that's it.

IDs aren't easy to fake and the ones that are passable are too expensive for someone who's only looking to buy cigarettes or alcohol. But even if this were not the case, Having to acquire a fake ID is an additional barrier to overcome before gaining access to adult content.
