I'm in Dallas now for the first time, it is CLEARLY the South. Most of the natives have Southern accents and the vegetation + weather are Southern.

Great city too, I love it here so far
Texas is vast. Dallas represents the region of Texas where the Southern Pines meet the Western Plains. Depending on where you’re at in the metro, you could be comfortably in the south or be on the edge of the west. I know an Atlanta native who said Dallas felt un-southern. I think they may have been in the western metro closer to Fort Worth.

The only part of Texas that’s genuinely southern is Setx and East Tx for now.

I’m interested to see how Houston especially will be 10-20 years from now, with its increasing international migration as well as transplants from other regions of the states I do believe Houston will eventually lose its Southerness.

And become a more latin influenced city, though remnants of AA culture will always remain, possibly something like a city in NorCal with a more diverse Latin population.

Basically the gulf coast spread out version of Miami mixed with SoCal demographically. I think Houston’s demographics are more like SoCal than Norcal. But it’s headed in that direction you are talking about. The Black American population will remain Southern. The rest is questionable.
