Just saw this on the TL. His best moment was the media scrum so fukk all of that. How do you rate his run in AEW after 2 years and do you think he will re-sign when his contract expires next year?

Idk what number but it's been a flop

From the only wanting to work with young talent angle to not being able to do moves anymore and breaking down constantly, everything that could've gone wrong minus him suing the company has feels like

Ratings are still down YoY without any sign of change, live attendance for both Dynamite & Collision is abysmal. What's better than 1 moderately attended show, splitting the roster to make 2 poorly attended ones lol. And he wasn't needed for Wembley, AEW's not being paid to host the event because AEW/he is this big star with drawing power. Tony paid for the building, he could've done that the whole time and not gotten his EVPs knocked out and bitten

He got eyes on the product when he first signed and for the first few months after and ain't done much for a positive bottom line since. I think recent behavior means he owns a piece of the pie or he's pretty high up. At the very least, he's the locker room leader they wouldn't let him be and laughed at him when he tried it in WWE so I don't see him moving

7/10, grade ongoing and subject to change

The first half was pretty good no matter how people try and paint it. MJF/Punk feud was classic and Kingston was fukkery. For the most part he had really good matches with young talent and I do think it raised their profiles. He helped metrics even if it was or wasnt to whatever expectations peple expectations. That shyt with him Sting and Darby vs the Pinnacle was fun too.

Even in the midst of last summer's mess, the All Out match was good. Stuff after was a mess and all the parasocial stuff and the sheets was really dumb but theres a lot of people to hold accountable for that other than him even when hes at the centre. The injuries are unfortunate but thats to be expected all things considered.

Collision since he came back has mostly a good show showing some great potential and helped develop that so that a plus. This past week again with all the sheet stuff probably created the first set of problems but as far as his stuff on TV its still good At this point its imperetative for him to think about legacy going forward and just work on building collision and fukk all that other shyt. I get its frustrating the money is there wit an Elite feud but hes just gotta work with his side. That ultimatley will determine if it goes up or down on the scale

I hate that it’s turned into what it’s turning into.

That very first night he arrived in AEW was a legit feel good moment, even if you couldn’t stand the guy it was hard not to smile a little as a wrestling fan. For that time it felt like something great was coming

His body doesn’t seem able to keep up with what he’s asking of it and he really can’t dial things back more than he already has.

A generous 7. In-ring, he's had an OK run. A few great matches here and there, I wouldn't say he's killed it in the ring though. On the mic he's had a good run, he's had some borderline classic promos with a few different guys and generally gives a good promo.

It's been getting less and less interesting though. His first 6-7 months was basically interesting every week. Since he's come back from All Out his angles haven't interested me. And really what he was doing in the months before All Out was mid too.

It's been a decent run, but it's time to pick it up again. Especially with building a show around him and pissing off the company founders.

the only good thing he has done was his debut on Rampage at the United Center .... will give him that, but that's literally it.

outside of Chicago, he is not a star in any way, shape, or form, and has always been tremendously overrated from a draw standpoint.

he's a 45-year old, spoiled-rotten, entitled "man" who constantly plays the victim, yet fails to realize that he is the problem 99% of the time.

CM Punk is a selfish, delusional, wanna-be "tough guy" who isn't worth the time .... one of, if not the biggest mistakes by Tony Khan is investing so much time and money into this fraud.

I agree with most of what you said, but come on. His match with Eddie Kingston was very good, the match with Darby was good, he's had a few good TV matches, and he's had a lot of good promos. The MJF promos were GREAT also.

It’s very meta.

CM Punk became “the best in the world” by being a man of the people, going against people who hung on too long, was anti backstage politics etc.

Now he’s a clown who goes into business for himself, calling himself the best in the world, playing backstage politics etc.

AEW has done a relatively good job of creating (other than the Elite and Moxley) young new stars or displaying stars that are rising but not of the WWE cloth (Penta Fénix etc.) and most of them are insanely athletic and seem to be professionals. Then you get Al Bundy out there botching moves, going on the same try hard promo rants to get pops from a bunch of smelly losers.

He has become the very target that he shot at in order to get his notoriety :wow:
