Nah I can remember being a kid thinking Sapphire/Emerald looked way better but they didn't hit the mark like G/S/C. Gen 2 is the only one imo you can argue was just as fun to play if not more than the previous one, they used Gen 1 as the base and built on top of it with new mechanics and designs that looked different from Gen 1, but not too different that they belong in a different game. They even let you go back to Gen 1. Gen 3 was a noticeable step back and everything after 3 is worse than the last before it.

Sw&Sh were decent but still missed the mark. Maybe I've just outgrown the franchise. I try and try every year to fall back in love with Pokémon, but I just can't. Sw&Sh were the last Pokémon games I bought. the audience is always changing. some ppl outgrow the shyt for sure, but younger kids are growing into it
step back and really look at the whole shyt. theres ppl playing sw/sh with pokemon they caught when they were kids, 2, 3, maybe 4 consoles ago
ppl playing with joints they caught on their phone. any of their games you can use just about any one you ever caught in your life

Arceus was pretty lit, even though it might be even easier than SwSh. Definitely felt like a step forwards after an endless sea of mid games.
This one tho... I dunno, it seems to have adapted some stuff from Arceus, but it didn't really show anything that looks like an evolution besides the 4-player thing. Cover legends look BW2-tier trash too.
It'll probably gonna be full of straight up malpractice-tier design choices like the DP remakes too, so...

Naw. I remember feeling let down with Ruby version when I got it. It was also when the Pokemon designs started to stray away from the art style set from Gen 1.
I appreciated the Hoenn games more when I became an adult, but still consider Johto games the biggest jump when it comes to features while still maintaining the integrity of the originals foundations.
