I come to find out I’m locked out on my Pokémon until Spring 2023. That could be 4-6 months. I might have to return this game and wait till I can get my team in it.

da hell? The game is out and basic features don't even work?

Lol they been doing this since pokemon hit the switch. They do a big update in 4-6 months after the game releases that unlocks another 200 or so pokemon from past generations. The pokemon home update for this game will probably be in feb or march along with the dlc.

With the last game Pokémon home just came into existence after the game came out. Now the thing existed before this game was released. There's really no excuse for the game not supporting it day one.

They dont want you to just transfer your op pokemon in day one and ruin online. I'm not saying they right and i agree it should be available day one. No technical reason it's not. But that's the reason they do it. To sell it back to you during the dlc and shake up the online meta.

I'm more inclined to believe the reason is they haven't fully coded the not natively available in this game Pokémon that Home would have into the game all the way.

Naw they in the code lol. The game has already been datamined,. We know all the pokemon that's coming in the home update. Of course this doesn't count any additional pokemon that will be added in the inevitable dlc. You can inject these pokemon in the game now if you have a modded switch or on a emulator. But they wont be able to be used online until the home update.

I didn't say they weren't coded in the game at all I said fully coded as in there's some partial coding but they aren't fully functional I'd bet. There's been Pokémon games in the past where you could sent your teams from an older game of the series into the next release on a one way trip if you had two systems. They won't allow those non-native creatures in until they're fully functional now.
