I tested this out doing like 15mph and never got the miles added to my egg
Snorlax appeared on trwcker, but I couldn't go hunt it 
Yeah from what I tested 10mph seems to be the top speed at which it tracks distance.

This game does lose steam around level 21. I definitely don't play it like I used to.
