At the very least, it was pointless. The fact that in was intertwined with Frank Trigg's pointless TNA run (Sabin lost the title due to Trigg turning heel and joining Aces and Eights for about two weeks before disappearing) didn't help matters.

Sabin immediately went back to the X-Division after this.

It also ruined what should have been the payoff of AJ Styles finally dethroning Bully Ray. Which of course still happened, but wasn't nearly as big of a deal as it should have been.
