Nobody is expecting a finished product at 19, but his jumpshot is a major hole in his game that won't really show up until the next level. A lot of young guys need to work on their shots, my problem with him is the sheer and utter reluctance to shoot jumpers, he just doesn't take them even when a defender gives him a 3-5 foot cushion.
This shot chart isn't going to be available against NBA teams -
hell it won't be there against the better D1 squads that will zone him. He's a great prospect, but he's going to need a specific team to draft him, the Celtics, Pelicans or Blazers are the best situations for him, if he goes to a team that lacks shooting a lot of you will be calling him a bust the first 3 years cause he wont be scoring but will be doing a lot of the little things.
Nobody said anything about shooting 3s either, he just straight up doesn't take jumpshots.....zero confidence in the shot.
Go pull up vids of Magic Johnson killing dudes with his jumper? I think Curry got dudes focusing on 3 point shooting way to much dwade has had a broke ass jumper for years and it's not stopping him. This kids ball handling skills, speed, vision and finish around the rim is not human. How many kids are dropping 43 points by attacking the basket? Going to the rim ain't easy and some how nobody can stop him and when you do he finds the open man every time. And he rebounds and plays defense. If Ben Simmons never attempted a perimeter shot I would be okay with it. This kid will have no problem scoring at the next level believe me.
He's not Magic, he won't be playing PG when he gets to the NBA and it's a completely different era now where being able to shoot is priority. If he goes to a team without shooters he's going to struggle. It's not about being Steph Curry and launching threes, he's completely reluctant to take a jumpshot of any distance. I don't care about 43 pts against North Florida, I remember Derrick Williams and Beasley beastin in college and while I think he's better than both I take college numbers with a grain of salt.
He's going to be an SF at the next level, right? Well if he can't shoot and he goes to the Sixers that's going ot be UGLY. A team drafting him may have to play him at PF until he can develop a shot.
