Stay calm through the next section as you head down. You are pretty decently leveled so it shouldn't be too crazy but if you rush, you gonna find yourself with one of the worst status effects in the game.

The only hint I'm gonna give you is that the next section has an enemy that will ruin dudes who like to turtle behind shields. If you encounter an enemy who doesn't seem to damage your health with their attacks, move.

I don't like how the game mechanics encourage grinding/farming souls

:francis:

Does it really though? The game is pretty beatable even at low levels. You can farm and grind if you want but it's really not needed to progress through the game. You can usually get by with pretty normal level progression.

whether or not it's needed, my point is that the mechanics encourage it. respawning enemies in an rpg always encourages grinding, but this goes a little further by giving you a way to force enemies to respawn

to be fair, it doesn't seem to 'break the game', and it definitely doesn't make it much easier

I guess I don't mind it because it gives you a way to "lower the difficulty" and tweak the game to your liking.

I'm not talking about trying to limit yourself. You really don't need to grind to beat Dark Souls. Grinding, to me, is choosing to halt your progression in the game for the sole benefit of getting souls. The game is very tightly designed to enemies, on most areas, give you a decent amount of souls relative to the level it assumed you'll be at.

You should almost never need to power level, to get past anything.

Sounds like you a #NewGamer :sas2:

But I'm a dude who SSS Ranked every DMC game and loves Ninja Gaiden.

Doing single death runs with SL15 characters is :whew:

You haven't lived till you fought Biggie and Smalls with a low level character.

I've beaten Ornstein and Smough and then went underground drained that shyt with the ghosts and all that, was right at that boss with the wolf I think, and haven't played since that in about like 8 months or something.

I wanna play again but damn this shyt, I made a new character after I beat Ornstein and Smough, a mage and made it all the way back to them again, I'm in that painted world grinding. But again my body made me stop playing.

I just can't put this disc back in you gotta really be in the mindset.

The Gargoyles have less health and are easier to deal with for low level builds. Moonlight is pretty annoying for low level builds.

Y'all know I still can't beat this nikka?? I've been eternally stuck here for months. I want to put some time into this game before Blood Borne comes out but damn I'm just getting merked. It's like my weapon does little damage to the boss but I stick through. I've gotten it to half health but then it ended up just killing me. I've tried to just collect some souls and go back to the blacksmith but I can't really get nothing of substance..
get the drake sword :birdman:
to get that get a bow from that merchant in the burg (with some arrows), then go under the bridge with the dragon and shoot the tip of the dragon's tail (you must meet the dex requirement for the bow though, I think it was 16) until it gets cut off (you'll automatically get the sword)

Telling him to get the Drizzy sword is setting him up for failure in the future. lol.

Brehs! Tell me it ain't so :mjcry:

I had fifteen thousand souls.

I left the bonfire to go back to the boss area and decided to farm again but I ended up getting killed by accident. So I'm respawning and i get killed again before I got to my last spot where i died...

Did I just lose all those souls???

:mjcry:

Souls ain't shyt. You'll always find more. Just take your time...
