They're trying to get people coming back to the game for years. That's probably what Bungie said was lacking not the core game play.

We still play tlou, it’s one of their most balanced games their patches is what made people quit uncharted 2 and 3 the gameplay was great

You gotta compare a niche base even at its peak to something like Destiny or Fortnite which is the model they're following for this. ND could just throw out a Factions clone but the player base they need for this to be successful is gonna require constant updates and worldwide player return. Bungie knows how that works better than anyone which is why ND is making sure shyt is truly ready to go.

Last of Us Multiplayer could have been a better game before but the entire reason it exist outside being an add-on is for it to generate perpetual revenue.

Uc2 was like a good entry mp but other than co op missons and maps I can’t think of anything else it just needed at the time
