That doesn’t dispel what he said, the project was shown to bungie and they said no, Sony and Bungie didn’t like what they saw. He’s been right 99% of the time lol. Tom Henderson claimed factions was done and ready for imminent release in 2022. We see how that turned out.
Most times unless they got an actual trailer or some solid proof the “i heard such n such” rumors be full of shyt.

That’s what they do. they may have a slither of accurate info, then they imbelish it with a bunch of hype and vauge statements. Just so they can come back later and say “things changed”
