Also have to look at it as players taking advantage of the rules allowed in the game...

Its runing the game..here is what I propose...

NO off-ball charging, meaning you cant draw charges if youre not the on-ball defender....make a person's physicality an actual aspect of the game

how wack is it to see Durant blow by Bron only for Battier to slide in and draw the charge?...I say get super picky with the rule and call it only when the offensive player drops his shoulder...

totally agree

that is until the biggest star (Dwade, Bron, Chris Paul, Blake, etc.) started abusing it...DWade would miss more games due to flopping ejections than injury if this rule was imlemented

If they started enforcing the rule, the flopping would instantly stop.

It's true, BUT it's extra fukked up when it's actually taught at a high level. I'm sure you've seen a few Duke basketball games in your life.

my thing is and it's probably already been said, i'm just too lazy to read thru the entire thread, but this "you can't call a foul there" narrative...why not? if it's a foul the first 47 min of a game and if it's in black & white in the rule book that it's a foul, then it should be called. with that train of thought, there's no need for a rulebook and refs should make up calls as they play (which I'm starting to belive some of them do)...i don't entirely blame the players (w/ the exception of that bytch Battier) but they know what they can get away with so why not exaggerate a bit...it's just frustrating when a damn superstar has to resort to those tactics

The problem is the rulebook isn't black and white.

I don't blame the Refs for calling flops. You gotta admit thats a tough fukken job. They have to make a split decision on dudes goin 100%. To add "did he flop or not" to that decision is unreasonable.

It seems the best approach would be to nail dudes after the game on reviews.

I dont like the idea of refs reviewing flops in-game because i like the fluidity of the game as-is, but they should fine/suspend players for flopping after the fact. Heavily.

I like what dude said about having someone on the side reviewing it. Have a fourth ref or someone that reviews the game as it is happening to assess penalites on obvious flop attempts. Hell it could be a minute later at the next stop in play to not ruin the flow. After a short while of that the obscene cases of flopping will cut down.

I don't blame the officials at all because trying to watch five players and so much going on at once they are stuck pretty much being reactionary so some shyt will slide by them.

You would think the NBA would do whatever they could to get rid of sliding under players taking off since that's probably the biggest injury risk there is.

lol a year ago or 2 ago I would've called it the Ginobli rule

but Wade has clearly cornered the offensive flopping market

If they implement a no shoulder/arm bar rule, Lebron is in trouble

and I thought kicking your leg out was an offensive foul too???

When a foul is called the game is stopped anyway. So during the time it takes to setup for a FT or inbounds the ball, a sideline ref could have did a quick review. Be honest, it takes u all of 3 seconds to tell the difference between a flop and a actual foul when u see it in the replays. It's not like a NFL review where the shyt takes 10 minutes. If done right u would barely notice it happening. If the player is caught flopping then the call is overturned.
