I don’t even think he’s that fast, he just gets the absolute best jump with above average (but not elite) speed. It also helps he is tall with a good wing span which helps tag the bag in just enough time not to get tagged out.

I don’t take any SB stat seriously these days though. You don’t have a bunch of Pudge/Piazza cannons behind the plate like the 90’s and the basepaths are shorter with the additional of the dumbass 2 pickoff rule.

I get Manfred wants more offense to get the game going, but a purist like myself who got to see Ricky Henderson play ball, I scoff at this shyt as blasphemy.
