When Joe went off on that piano in front of those kids....I felt that.

Trent and Atticus killing it as usual, there were a few compositions when I could hear their style clear as day. Really good work.

This was crazy good. Foxx and Fey did their thing on this. It's such a dark, mature film for Pixar, but the way it played on the topic of mortality was unique and sucked me into the story. That first transition sequence would've spooked me if I watched this as a child. I loved how fleshed out Joe and 22's relationship was despite shifting back and forth between Earth and the Before.

Without failure, the Pixar films I've seen always have a way to put me on the edge of tears and this one was no exception. I went into this thinking it would be a lesser Inside Out, but Soul's last act hit me way harder. That damn final act. I was wrong and glad to eat crow. Top 3 Pixar film for me right now, but most likely top 5 once the days pass by.

is it me or does this feel like this was directed more to adults than kids
Was actually wondering about that myself. I think you at least need to be a teenager or young adult to feel what Joe was learning. Also, the abstract constructs of the After/Before life really ain't some shyt kids will get, lol. But I think the jokes work for kids enough.
