Being a landlord can be a headache, but what's the alternative? Selling your parents' home?

In a country with a major housing shortage, what's wrong with selling an extra home when you already have your own home? Why do so many people need to own multiple homes when most black families don't even own 1?

The fact that well-off Americans always default to hoarding is one of the reasons we're in this mess.
