David Moore is preaching right now on The Ticket with Norm. I wish I could record it. I’ll recap later but this franchise has deep organizational issues on defense.
Was it the part where he talked about how the FO thinks throwing numbers at the Dline will bring competition and the cream rises to the top?
He made a good point about how the flip side of that philosophy is, that might water down the talent because some players probably can't get the reps or coaching to get better.
Who knows? Let's see what happens

Or was it the fact that the Boys haven't resigned a defensive 1st round draft pick since 2004 since Anthony Spencer. (Mo Clay was given a 1 yr contract after declining the 5th yr option).

His point about the front office/scouting department not having much defensive "expertise" struck a nerve.

Combine that with the fact that the ownership leans offense and the head coaches are always offensive-minded, it leads to a vacuum on defensive philosophy and personnel decisions on that side of the ball - hence why they lean on the defensive coordinator excessively for these decisions.

Then when you fire the defensive coordinator, you have to start all over. It's scatterbrained.

David Moore basically lives at The Star. He knows everything about this franchise, even though he's not "out there" like some other members of the media. So, when he says these things about the front office, I take it to the bank.
