We're 'crying' because it's the same formula for failure we've seen the past 25 years. EXACT SAME FORMULA

We did well with our first rounder. Second rounder is yet another gamble who could miss half of his career here if he doesn't get it together. Has one of these guys really panned out? Sean Lee missed a quarter of his career in the ice tub. Gregory missed the majority of his time here suspended. Jaylon had one excellent year and then reverted into nothingness. Trystan Hill has done nothing and this is a guy Marinelli had to make sign a work ethic contract.

3rd rounders look like depth, backup guys when we need guys who are going to try to compete for a starting position. Yet again we draft an undersized defensive tackle. Yet again we neglect safety. It's the same formula repeated over and over that almost guarantees our defense will fail us at the most critical moments if they even manage to put together anything competent in the first place. Honestly, I'm not convinced that our defense is any better talentwise than last year. Parsons is going to do his thing, but how much time will he see with Jaylon and LVE? Kelvin Johnson has the talent and is almost assuredly going to be a starter, but can he keep his head on straight? He essentially gets kicked out of LSU for blazing up and his coach at Kentucky tells him to opt out because he didn't want to play the final game of the season. The guys we took in the 3rd round all had grades to be taken significantly later. They could be better than expected, and then again we could have taken those same guys in later rounds while shoring up on difference makers with those 3rds.

They haven't played a single down yet, pump the breaks. The idea that you can evaluate a draft before the players take the field is pure ignorance and fan arrogance. You don't know more than the scouts, every player is a question mark after a certain point. Fans fall in love with names that the media has regurgitated for months in mock drafts and all of a sudden think they're experts. At the end of the day the Cowboys have been one of the best drafting teams for years and this isn't up for debate, it's an actual fact. The comp picks reflect that. Sure they miss on picks but they miss less frequently then most teams in the league, again thats a fact. So to sit here and judge a draft before training camp even starts is just foolish. None of us have access to teams' draft board so to say *player x* could've been selected in *x round* is just bs, we don't know how teams have players graded. Let it play out.

Got to factor in coaching as well. I dont even think McCarthy is a good coach.
Yeah bruh we are a mess all around. We got talent at the skill positions but we don't have dogs in the trenches and playmakers in the secondary. And unless LVE proves me wrong this season that rookie season where he looked like that dude for us is looking like an outlier season. Jaylon Smith is getting by on potential and needs to turn that into consistent production. And maybe Tryon Smith and Collins can play a whole season but the line needs to be addressed immediately though i'm beating a dead horse repeating that. Until Jerry brings in a football mind who can make his own decisions (won't happen) we are destined to be stuck in mediocrity for the imminent future.

Number one, this team has been swimming in mediocrity or below for decades. I don't see anything changing anytime soon.

Two, I'ma sit back and let this play out. Let's get to the season and see where it goes, you don't know how ANY of these picks are going to work out. You usually only hitting on like 30-40% of your draft picks anyway.
BUT, Im gonna be QUICK to criticize when/if these picks aren't working out. We needed help IMMEDIATELY on defense.

It seems like these guys draft with the same approach that they do to free agency. They ALWAYS looking for bargains and value. Nothing wrong with either on the face but when your whole philosophy is built on those two things, I don't
think you can succeed. You have to go all in somewhere. You have to commit to something. Everybody can't be multi-position players. Some guys just have to be good at what they do. Rushing the passer, playing the ball in the air, tackling in space, something...they always looking for bargains, they starting to draft bargains as well. Ish is :mindblown: sometimes but, like I said in the beginning, I'm just gonna let it play out during the season.

Can't wait to hear the excuses this season. It's getting VERY hard to LOVE this team. It seems like they just can't get out of their own way. This franchise has taken on the worst traits of it's owner and general manager, I pray we can overcome this, but I just don't see it happening

This is true. Online jr scouts want to brag and boast and just like dudes in the stock market thread all the yacking when up not a peep when down. I don't. Care who it is we draft gotta give them a year or two to see whats really good/bad with them IMO.

Yeah that's why I try not to post as much. I jsut end up getting into with cats and they think I'm some type of a$$hole when I'm honestly just not with the level of crying from grown men. If someone feels they this awesome at scouting I say get a website put your skills on digital paper. If you're that good someone will eventually see your track record and give you a chance often times. Otherwise we just fans that are mainly regurgitating what some next person said while watching a little tape if that here and there.

Not gonna sit here and act like a nfl draft expert, as I don’t follow college football closely.

I understand the first and second round picks, even if I don’t agree with not trading first for bigger haul and not to a divisional rival. But they went out on ledge on 3rd round picks. If they don’t pan out, then they deserve a lot of blame. Coli has out drafted the cowboys in previous years. Only time I really remember disagreeing with this board was lve. I didn’t hate the pick like others did. But his injury past did hurt him. wanted Jack over jaylon smith like others here did too. Wasn’t impressed with taco pick. Wanted thornhill over hill.

The sad ish is that Dan Quinn basically did this last year when he drafted AJ Terrell (who allowed 71 catches on 102 targets) and let CeeDee Lamb fall right into our laps. 4 of their 6 picks were defense last year and they were one of the worst defenses in the league.

Not happy about this so far. 3 Safeties and 2 DTs went in the picks before us, no reason why we couldn't trade a few slots up and get one. Instead we're drafting 6th rounders with our extra third round picks smfh.

Why you have to bring this up :mjcry:
