If we're excluding all trades done by Billy King, sure. For as awful as the Bargnani trade was, Billy King traded 3 1st round picks for 1 season of Pierce and 1 and half seasons of a broken down KG. We don't control our first round pick until 2019 because of that trade

We got the worst trades on lock :netscry:

I understand people saying not getting Monroe for the max isn't the worse thing ever but all we have to offer at this point is money . If we suck another year and have no lottery pick to show for it we will wind up not getting any of the long shot FAs coming up in the next few years then we going to suck for most of phils run. I think we starting to sound somewhat like laker fans in here and being slightly deluded about how great it is that we aren't getting anyone .
If we aren't good we have absolute 0% chance of getting durant here . This is why I was saying tanking and assets isn't NECESSARILY better than competing and showing that we can make the triangle work . Yes there are pieces out there we can get for cheap but that doesn't help melo much in terms of having a legitimate second option , wastes another year of his prime and sets us back .
I hope I'm 100% wrong in the end but I'm feeling uneasy for real after the draft and this

:damn: that's brutal.

BKN got the worst outlook in the NBA for the forseeable future.

I absolutely LOVE how the prospect of the Knicks signing Monroe was an L for NY...

But the same brehs are in the Free Agency thread talking about Monroe giving the Bucks them a good young core with a great low post scoring thread that has a promising future.

I mean...shyt is bugged out.

You see it, man. The truth is, he probably DOES make more sense on the Bucks with their length and defense, than the knicks. But it went from Apocalypse to Boon with the quickness, on this board.

That's basically it, the worst thing to do is lock yourself into the 4-7 seed range. They need to use their cap space to absorb bad deals and acquire picks.

Well, absorb bad contracts to a point. 2 years? sure. 4 years? ehhhhhhh

Just gonna repeat this. That's how we got in this situation in the first place. Monroe getting a max? :camby:

Well, max is a relative term now, because the cap is about to explode. 19 milion a year, is about to be 3rd-4th option money.

I'm not stressed. I don't expect, or even want the knicks to attempt some miracle turnaround in one year. Afflalo for 2 years is a smart deal. Making a run at Robin Lopez makes A LOT of sense. Pat Beverly would be a nice addition.

You put together those pieces, all of the sudden you have a team that's drafting for the future, and making logical, smart signings. Bring in one of the better young overseas centers, you're adding length, youth to the roster.

I'm outchea watching these moves happen like  ....... :hula:

The blessing is that we're in the East. We can be a fairly competitive team even with discount pieces if they're the right guys. The Knicks could have a strong defense for the first time in a long time with Galloway/Grant/Afflalo on the perimeter and a tough defensive C in the middle. Couple a strong defense with Melo who is gonna get his points and you could sneak into the playoffs and sell future FA's on how far you came even with limited attack options.

man, the knicks should seriously consider moving melo. I know he has a no-trade clause, but lets be reality here. it's over for his era.
No.

Management should NOT approach Melo about moving him. If Melo approaches management...okay, I'm sure something could be worked out to benefit both.

However, Melo is still a capable basketball player until proven otherwise.

Monroe is a damn god player. Better than Amare at this point in is career. Perhaps Phil doesnt wanna stunt Porzingis' growth by having another high priced PF in the picture.

But Melo wanted to be in NY and have his money. :mjlol:
