That's probably the worst possible outcome.perpetual mediocrity is not where we want to be.patience brehs. patience. this is a retooling year. whats important is we got our shyt together by the second half of the season, and maybe nab the 8th seed.
Check our contract situation. We're playing to set a system, figure out the pieces to keep, give Fish some experience, and present an optimistic situation to some big free agents in the off season. Noone was crazy enough to think we'd be a contender this year.
Plus we been dealing with key injuries for a while now. No one seems to consider that. At least wait to see what this team is all about when its fully healthy and playing together for a few weeks.

Right so the team is going to be completely different next year. It won't matter if we barely made the playoffs this year to our plans going forward. I doubt a free agent like gasol would be convinced to come here because of an 8th place finish.
As a fan I'd obviously love to see us play playoff basketball but we need to stock up on as much talent as we can get to be competitive going forward. Calderón and bargnani are not good enough to put us over the top this year.getting a high pick in a year we actually have one isn't a terrible outcome.

Cole should have played more. No way he and Sam should play 5 mins each. Cole gives them problems. Brooklyn's penetration killed NY with those kick-outs for open 3's. That wouldn't have happened with Cole in the middle. Cole would have boarded a ton too. Swish needs to take more than 6 shots, especially when he shoots the ball as well as he did last night. During the preseason he said he doesn't wanna take shots too early, but he's getting good looks early; take them, for crying out loud. 'Melo too.

No, he will not be laughing and smiling at that time because he will know that he no longer has the chance to accomplish his goal. In all likelihood, he was laughing and smiling because he knew that a 20pt hole is not insurmountable. I felt the same way. What difference does it make if he's laughing and smiling as long as he's still playing hard (boarding, passing, and trying to get himself going offensively)? You can't help it if shots aren't falling. However, as I said, he needs to take more shots in the 1st half and Swish needs to take more in both halves. They both need to stop trying so hard to accommodate the passing aspect of the offense and let the pg's worry about that. You can't score if no one or only the weaker players shoot.
