I never said their behavior wasn't bullshyt--they're teenage boys engaging in fukkkery for laughs. But they weren't doing what they did with the intent of harming, it was the element of surprise and scares. They weren't even thinking about what could possibly happen if those fireworks hit and hurt someone. Which is common with youth--not necessarily this specific behavior, but doing shyt without thinking about how things could go wrong, how dangerous it is, and what the consequences would be.
My son would be punished by me for being stupid, and he'd also be educated on all the ways what he did could have went wrong. Grounded for months? Yes. Technology taken away? Yes. Taken to a scared straight class? Yes. Forced to engage in community service so he can give back? Yes. Yelled, lectured and cursed at? Yes. Working to pay for any damaged he caused so he can pay for it himself? Yes.
But that's all I would do. I wouldn't see his offense as worthy of going to prison for life, or being murdered.
Now if my son intentionally hurt someone, and was hitting innocent people on purpose for laughs like what we're seeing in this video, that would be the sort of occasion where I'd actually consider his behavior to be that of a psychopath.
