terrible comparison man, one film had will smith leading and the next was a same day streaming pandemic film

mission impossible 2 was a huge success and the reasons people tuned out on the franchise were 1. it took 6 fukkin years to make the next one 2. tom cruise was older 3. that oprah interview in 2005+scientology shyt turned him into a joke and people started to look at him like a weirdo

I think mi3 saved his career in a way and made people take him seriously again even tho it was the lowest grossing film in the franchise. saying it saved mission impossible is a stretch tho cause it was doing fine
It took 6 years to make MI 3 because they signed JJ Abrams and was wiling to wait to fulfill his obligations with Alias and Lost. Tom Cruise also took a huge pay cut to get the film made.

I am binge watching the films at the moment and Mission Impossible 2 is franchise killing bad. This is really fresh and you can feel that course correction in MI3

I've never understood the love for PSH in this role. I legit burst out laughing like 3-4 times because how unconvincing he was when I watched it the first time.

Suicide Squad made $750 million. The sequel made $167 million. When you make an crap film. You don't go see the sequel.

Also, this was also before reviews for film where wildly accessible. So, any highly anticipated film was gonna make bank.

Terrible post. The Suicide Squad was free same day on HBO and also came out during a worldwide pandemic.

Most underrated mission impossible of the series cuz it was that good and great villain it was the turning point of it with 4 putting over the top
3 started the process and steps don’t go by box office either cuz it was really popular on tv and word of mouth so it gave 4 that hype

How ‘Mission: Impossible III’ Saved Tom Cruise’s Franchise – The Hollywood Reporter

. Mission: Impossible used its third chapter as a foundation to realign the series and its main character. By finding a more personal way into the character 15 years ago, Abrams and his team made it possible for the resilient franchise to find a new longevity, and for the character of Ethan Hunt to extend his shelf life in ways that resonate with audiences long after the credits roll.
