More of a fan of the series personally. GiTS Stand alone is dope.
As far as this movie, when has a movie based on an anime ever been good outside of Edge of Tomorrow which is based off a comic? I guess you can count Oldboy and Battle Royale too but honestly most american movies based on animes and video games have been shyt.
Also outside of avengers, Johanssen has never been in a good action flick. So despite being a fan of the series, I'm just going to act like this movie doesn't even exists. I'll be surprised if it even gets a lot of marketing.

Also my problem isn't that Scarlett is white. She is too young for the part in my opinion. Not saying the Major is necessarily much older but her character is supposed to project a sense of leadership and authority that comes with being a bit older and experienced. I just can't image Scarlett Johansson really pulling that off well. She is more known for being sexy is she not?
That's another reason I dont want her to be in this movie... For all her success LUCY flopped... this movie may work but damn if they are not true to the source material in this case already starting out with backlash damaging the goodwill of fans of the series...

studio head: goes, um who we got we can cast this in? um scarlett johanson, oh white big t*ts attractive, the japs will love her...

both the main actor/actress in pacific rim was fukking awful. Like days of our lives soap opera acting bad (at least in my humble opinion). Hollywood is RULED by marketing movies to audiences, if studios don't think they can make a profit they're not going to take any chance on making a film. That's how it is. That's why Scarlett Johanson is playing the leading role to a japanese anime, that is why sigrouney fukking weaver played a god damn egyptian queen. Someday it's going to take a director to somehow convince a studio to "take a chance" on unknowns helming a big movie. I actually really love that Abrams is using relative unknowns for the new star wars film. But then again, at this point, it's star wars, anyone could've been in the movie and it will break records. It's basically going to take a big director who is super passionate about being accurate in regards to white washing and shyt or for someone to put up their own money. Studios just don't take chances without something being surefire money.

I want an accurate egyptian period piece withi know....
