Also if wrestling is meant to be taken seriously as a real sport wouldn't these long ass title reigns ring false?

Punk for 400 days, brock for 500, dune for 600, okada for 700 etc

How many boxers or MMA fighters hold belts that long?

:patrice:I thought "The Dean Ambrose Special" was to fukk a chick with no condom but leave her a ounce of coke and a half eaten jelly sandwich afterwards

Well, more like the Ambrose US title special. To be fair, Dunne started to defend it more often recently, but that title was MIA for a while.

That belt doesn't mean shyt.

Regional manager Michael Scott ass belt

More like Assistant TO the Regional Manager Dwight Schrute ass belt

:mjlol:

For most of those 600 days, he was the champ of a division with approximately 3 people in it. He literally had no one to lose the title to, or a relevant WWE show to lose it on (because you know he wasn't dropping it at a Progress or ICW show or some shyt).

So, uh........congrats, I guess?:ld:

Could care less but it's not his fault like some of you are hinting it that way.

He has no competition. Besides him I could care less about anyone from UK which is why I think WWE idea on being around the globe with 100 NXTs is shyt when we won't car2 about all those fukks

From memory, Bernard Hopkins 10 years as middleweight champ from 1995-2005, until he lost to Jermaine Taylor.

Gotta remember, Dunne is young as hell and Triple H has taken a genuine shine to him - if he's got the longevity for it (and early signs on the mic and in the ring show he might just... impossible to say for sure) he could be eating off a "longest title reign in WWE history" tag into his 40s.

This might be the best bit of slow build planning WWE has done in decades.:ehh:

Or it might just be a symptom of being the champ of a neglected ginger stepson of a UK division.:yeshrug:

From memory, Bernard Hopkins 10 years as middleweight champ from 1995-2005, until he lost to Jermaine Taylor.

Also non-combat sports too look at the longevity of true champions - Jordan, Woods, Federa, Schumacher - they all dominated for years on end. When you're the best, you're the fukking best.

When boxing belts chop around all the time you just get a window on how corrupt boxing promotion is tbh, but someone like Mayweather was/is a fukking champion. Nobody EVER beat him in a professional fight - in TWENTY YEARS. That's a hell of a lot more "unbelievable" than a 600 day WWE title run where they probably lost a couple on count-out and dq but it actually happened.

Long title runs can create stars because it makes them seem MORE believable. Real athletes aren't dominating everyone one week and then catching beatdowns the next. Hogan would've been nothing without the belt in the 80s... the crowd believed he was the best by a mile even though he was one of the worst.
