We stay not being engaged with the political process if it ain’t on Twitter.

I don't know how many educators are here, but I think they would agree with this comparison.
Some parents will not attend the FIRST(or any) Parent/Teacher meetings for their school age children. They won't think, or care, about how that affects the way the teacher might interact with their child.

I've had to sit down and explain this to relatives ahead of time. Have offered to attend with them, in case they felt awkward because the language barrier.When one relative copped pleas about not attending and asked me to go FOR her, I knew it was a lost cause.

Comparison wasn't being made directly to this situation but to the overall political apathy that exists. No political engagement at all.
