There is generally a larger variety of men deemed to be socially acceptably attractive than women. There's no female equivalent to Benedict Cumberbatch or Mads Mikkelsen or Matt Smith. I mean, this probably has to do with women being valued primarily for their appearance. Men are attractive for reasons other than their appearance. This is the root of the stereotypes that women can't have any secondary characteristics (humour, intelligence, etc). I think women have been taught to settle, as well. We can see this in those sitcoms with the fat ass ugly husband and the attractive wife. But I feel like in 2015 we should be seeing a wider variance of women being deemed attractive, and I don't see it happening. They're all just coalescing around the instagram look. As the gender rules become less codified, we should see an evening out. I just wanna see more weird looking girls being promoted in mainstream.

I dapped your initial post.... but this has some truths and B.S. mixed in.......

They seem to be beautiful in the regular way?

Was expecting you to post girls people wouldnt generally think are beauties.

:jbhmm: examples?

I have reasoning behind my picks but it seems this thread has sparked a lot of debate on what is "beautiful"and what is "unique"

Every chick you posted was either beautiful, or attractive, and fell within the norms of what beauty is considered to be........... I enjoyed it though

False. There are plenty of women that don't come close to the Instagram look that guys beast over.

Pretty much any black woman that works in news/sportscasting

None of those chicks would fit the prototype IG chick but still get or got plenty of adoration from brothers.

As far as women being taught to settle, if this is true, I rarely see the manifestation of that. I see big girls shooting for in shape men. I see guys settle for the unattractive woman that is offering easy sex (and then playing the sh*t out of her later). But what I rarely see is an universally attractive woman "settle" for an unattractive man. Most women have no problem finding a man of equal attractiveness that is willing to be in a relationship with her. Now will he be successful or even have a job, that's a different topic. But there's nothing forcing women to settle from a looks perspective.
