trailer came out in 2020(3 years ago) and we have fukk all. ya, I can see why people are peeved(including me)

if the game wasn't ready for prime time it shouldn't have been promoted.

3 years into the console generation and the big things have been Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite(Not doing a great job of dispelling the Halo/Forza/Gears jokes)

All eyes on Starfield(which I look forward to modding on Steam)
Yeah, I still don't believe when people say devs/publishers show games too early for recruitment. I think game devs like most people see if the money is right they'll join a studio. So, if somebody as big as Microsoft got a job posting then talent will most likely follow since I assume they pay good money. Anyways, hopefully this is a lesson to other devs of not showing stuff too early when it's only in concept stage.

I feel Microsoft showing this game and Everwild too early is going to haunt them.

The idea that this was shown early for recruitment doesn’t add up because The Initiative started out with a ‘dream team’ of devs. Xbox stans were constantly posting about how they had devs from Naughty Dog, Insomniac, CDPR, Rockstar, etc. etc. i think they had around 80-100 people, which is far more than enough people to start making a game.

Since they posted that trailer they actually lost half their staff so it did the exact opposite of what it set out to do. Like i said, they should have just hired Crystal Dynamics or an outside studio to make the game to begin with. They essentially wasted 3 years with The Initiative and who knows how much money

Perfect Dark, like Tomb Raider just isn’t the type of game you spend 7-8 years making.

I think it's obvious that Xbox showed it early to get early console sales. They most likely felt they can get some nostalgia points by reviving the series. It's just that it backfired due to project management issues.

I don't mind the idea of The Initiative, but it's the old saying of too many cooks in the kitchen. What they should've done is split up the team more and have them lead multiple projects instead of fighting about 1. I think that would've been better use of talent.

Yeah, i mean i don’t really understand the purpose of whats essentially just an incubation team. Like you sad, a bunch of industry vets from completely different studios aren’t necessarily going to see eye to eye on how to begin and develop a project.

Crystal Dynamics basically had to start from scratch with a singular vision because what they put together before was a mess. Whats the purpose of having a middle man developing ideas if it won’t mesh well with the studio that takes it over? You’re not gonna hire a big team like CD with their own workflow and creative directors to just follow orders.

That fact that certain affinity was originally on this project and left is a whole other story.

If only the wolverine studio had another major game coming out inbetween the announcement and release :francis:
That changes nothing about the whole narrative yall was running with about how there is no info or trailer years later. Supposedly "Sony doesn't do that" and it's unacceptable.

If Insomniac release wolverine before this game (which seems likely) they will have released 3 AAA titles since this game was announced. So yeah, its a little different

Standards and expectations.

One studio consistently releases great games with another one releasing in a few months.

The other one had their game taken away from them and given to a 3rd party to clean up. They also showed off fake trailers, mislead about the state of the game, and had a mass exodus at their studio.

In yalls mind sure, it was never a problem to no show footage or have little to no info after announcing a game, but yall turned it into a big deals, then fueled it on with every article about the game having problems in pre production.

But at the heart of it, it's not different at all. Sony has always made yall wait years for games and info... yall was just spoiled of the end of the PS4 era with the crazy run from 2017-2020.

Now after spiderman and into 2024, outside of 3rd party exclusives they've locked down it's slim pickings as far as what might release next year 1st party.

This thread vs the wolverine thread is a stark contrast :mjlol:

3 years no info or trailer from a VET team and it's ok, 4 years and light info from a new team and it's "why announce or show a trailer for a game so soon":mad:
