Buls may be up to something :lupe:

Couple of ways I look at this:

On one hand: The Knicks NEEDED Robin Lopez, a hardnose player who doesnt care about getting touches to alleviate Melo's volume shooting and PorZyngis' (sp) development. And they game him away for an oft-injured Rose without having a replacement for Lopez in Place.

On the other hand... Knicks ditch a bad contract (Lopez is good but that contract was too much) and may be praying Rose balls out his last 2 years in hopes one last big contract. Either way Knicks have the cap room for.. 2019?

:laff: @ Derrick Rose when he was talking shyt saying HE would never leave CHI when asked about LeBron leaving CLE.
I remember saying his ass shouldnt pledge allegiance to no fukking organization as they can trade ya ass whenever it's convenient for THEM as they give ZERO fukk about your loyalty

Why are people calling Robin Lopez a terrible contract?

Do y'all see what capable Bigs are getting paid and what they'll command with the cap going up? Robin Lopez' current contract is a bargain if not a steal.

This is not a win at all for the Knicks aside from getting rid of Calderon.

Knicks keep repeating the same mistakes they've made forever. They should be looking for young players to build around Porzingus for the future and should be trying to convince Melo accept a trade. Trading for a washed up D-rose and giving up Grant just doesn't make sense to me. This franchise is content with selling hope to it's fans. I feel bad for Knicks fans because it's never going to get better like this.
Repeating what mistakes? Rose is one year rental. If he plays good we have his bird rights, if he doesn't he's a free agent and we have cap space to get Westbrook ,Chris Paul and others

Lopez and porzingis was not the future front court of this team. Gettin rid of lopez was the smart move. He doesn't fit hornecks style of play and the ultimate goal for zingis is to move him to center. Lopez isn't in long term plans. Trade him before he gets washed or injuried, he's not even a double double guy

Grant isn't anything special.

There's nothing bad about this move at all. Knicks haven't even touched the money they have for dree agents this season and haven't compromised their future

I don't know how to feel about this. Been a Bulls fan growing up but left Illinois and living in NY now. Guess I'll go to Knicks games more often.

I don't love this deal. But I don't hate it either.

Really, it's a salary dump, and a move away from a Center who doesn't play Hornacek's version of basketball. It stinks to give up a young player, because it's more fun to root for a young player, but it's all whatever.

You get a rental of Rose, who improves the team, though probably not by much, and probably not as much as losing Lopez hurts them.

But really, you free up 50-60 million next offseason, and if Rose plays well, and you want to try to resign HIM, fine.
On top of that, if Rose falls apart, and you lose, then you have a lottery pick next year.
Justin Holiday is a guy some smart people like, but likely a rotation player.

I just don't like the fact that it feels like ANOTHER reset, and there was NO market for Rose. So to give up your most attractive deal and a young guy, that's not great.

But what are you gonna do.

Great. All we need is for Dwight Howard to sign with the Knicks, and they will officially become this generations late 90s Rockets.

Old Howard, Old Melo, and Washed Rose :hula:Old Barkley, Old Hakeem, Old Pippen

Still an improvement

In a vacuum this really isn't a bad deal, it's worth seeing what Rose has left for one year. But if/when it leads to NY tossing a ton of money at Howard/Noah/Gasol we'll be right back to calling em the same old Knicks

I'd like to go back in time and cut Phils hands off and prevent him from giving Melo that max contract.

Yeah that's fine. But we're here in the real world.

And as far as I'm concerned, this is a lateral move to a salary dump. If they start signing older/wack vets to try to make a run, on multi-year deals. Then I'll freak out.

The Hornacek hire signaled a reset, this was natural.
