Someone told me the other day that IT, Law, Medicine, Dentistry, psychology, sales, some trades and Engineering are you should be getting into now as they are safe. by the time automation becomes full blown you'll have the experience and skills meaning you will be ahead. Sounds like he was right.

The huge influx of people entering those fields means actually finding a job in that field will be much more difficult and compensation for many will go down due to the huge influx of candidates for those open positions.

The good thing about tech is that it changes a lot so if you are willing to learn before anyone else you can make decent money. Honestly these severances are to get rid of people that are hitting the retirement age and are not retiring. They have not adapted to software, cloud networking, cyber security, big data etc which is where lots of companies are growing their people and yes Universal income will be a need in the future as most humans won't be able to keep up, even highly intelligent folks.

:mjlol: americans are fools. They get all shocked by these headlines. Not even realizing that shyt is automated in the US but they out here doing pepsi bottles in Mexico, South America and India by hand.

Also the new hustle is to tell american workers they doing automation and taking the jobs away. Only to send them jobs to 3rd world counties where patel and pablo working for 2 bucks an hour by hand in a factory with no air conditioning...:russ:

get a marketable skill under your belt before its too late  these kids need to start going to trade school instead of college

You dont think trade jobs are getting automated too?:sas2:

We're going to see a living wage in the near future as companies continue to commit to automation and lay off more and more people.
