Ever since Jim Ryan took over PlayStation it's been controversy after controversy and almost any time he makes public statements it's some regrettable stuff being said like trashing gamers taste effectively for wanting to play older games and both siding women's right to choose issues. The policies he comes up with often have to be backtracked and reversed. They really need to figure out how to get him out of that position. He's gonna be their Don Mattrick if he keeps it up.

The concept of brand goodwill to PlayStation's customer base eludes him. His policies all boil down to always making money upfront rather than doing things to reward loyal customers that may bear fruit later by increasing positive brand sentiment.

Jim Ryan is the reason I can't put my old classic games I still own into a PS5 and play them but come June I'll be able to pay them a monthly or annual fee at the highest tier to play those same games on their PlayStation+ service on the system. Perhaps you don't care but eventually a company with an attitude like that will run afoul of your preferences. Physical BC matters because some games will never be available on digital due to rights issues.
