This right here has always been my point with this nonsense. If you don't wanna draw the line at dating out or the resulting children, then where? Can the grandchildren and great-grandchildren claim to be black? How many of those KKK shyt heads probably had great grandmothers who were mulatto? Should we consider their racist crimes to just be black on black crime now?

Sammy, Eartha, Sydney, at an MLK Civil Rights march. Peak blackness. :wow:

these are both whole white women :wtf:

Hall's mother was a famous opera singer by the name of Maria Ewing. Maria's father apparently passed so she was unsure about her ethnicity but everyone regarded her as black anyway.

Sim-Jillian-with-ancestors.jpg

Jill Sim holding photographs of her great-grandmother and great-uncle, among the first African American graduates of Vassar and MIT, respectively

She states in the blog that she might be a descendant of Peter Hemings. Peter Hemings was the younger brother of James Hemings who was Jefferson's slave that was the first to bring Mac and Cheese to the US. Both were talked about in that High on the Hog documentary. James used his brother Peter to bargain Jefferson for his freedom.

The key is continuous "black" identity. White identified people who just found out they had a "black" ancestor

isn't the same as continuously "black" identified people who happen to be fair skinned/look white

Bazabeel Norman was a free mulatto Revolutionary War soldier, serving in the 7th Maryland Regiment under the command of Colonel John Gunby from 6 June 1778 and until 31 July 1783. His mother was a mulatto indentured servant of British and African ancestry named Jane. His father was a unidentified free man. Bazabeel also served an indenture until age twenty-one but was never enslaved, nor were his descendants. He was the second black landowner in the state of Ohio. His direct descendent Major Henry A. Norman was a Tuskegee Airman who fought in World War II. Maria Ewing, and opera singer and wife of Sir Peter Hall is also a direct descendant.
