People are still taking the dinner with Jay-Z over $50K

The only reason anybody should be taking that dinner is if you have the next unicorn startup saved on your laptop and the only thing stopping you from becoming a billionaire yourself is venture capital.

Like if I had an amazing idea to make batteries 20% more efficient or something at current cost, I'd take the dinner.


But since I don't, I'm taking the $50k.

This sounds dumb at first, but let's be real. Jay Z made his first million drug dealing, then became a rapper, and has a clothing line that he developed with the help of others. Like many who have struck gold, it's hard to translate their experiences into tangible advice since it's so based on circumstance. If you wanted Jay Z to give you useful advice, he'd have to tell you his whole life story. Even if Jay Z tried to help you, it'd be long before you got results if at all, because what worked for him would be completely different for someone else with a different background or who has different types of friends.

2) everybody knows Jay Z is a bytch/a$$hole. He might treat you condescendingly, maybe he might probably tell you nothing of value.

3) Jay Z meets plenty of people every day. You'd need to actually have something that's viable and tangible for him to take seriously. "Ideas" isn't enough. You must be business savvy and show it. You must show you actually have potential. (Etc. You have multiple EPs or you already started you business or the only thing left you need is funding).

4) 50k can help you start a business or pay off crippling debt immediately. The results of having dinner Jay Z may not be apparent for a while. Hell, 50k can easily turn to 75k by just buying promising stock.


I ain't some pessimist. You just gotta know for sure that you got that it factor.

This thread is a great example of why some people suffer. Their imagination (the parameters of a dinner with Jay means, what is he obliged to do with the dinner mate) makes them take risks that don’t pay off instead of sure fire gains (we all have something tangible to use $50k on).

tell him that....
tell him what your goals are and what you come from
if you aint got kids... let him know you're willing to relocate whatever for a chance to be put in a position to move up
he could make one call and have you lined up for any number of possible positions
for any number of his own ventures or friends who are running businesses
maybe just doing intern work at roc nation....
but that direct jay cosign would put you on the fast track...

take the 50k unless you really about that type of shyt....
if you havnt worked 16 hours a day for months on end to build something from nothing...
you most likely aint got the type of heart for manifesting random moves like that
it aint for everyone and doesnt always work out
but if you have the drive for it... that's the route i would take...
