Better player?

Is it even close?

I thought it was a close comparison but maybe someone presents something that changes that :yeshrug:

Peak Dwight was more dominant even though Zo was more polished offensively. Better on the boards and you could have put him on any team in the league and they'd be a top five defense. That Orlando squad that went to the Finals had a bunch of :scust: defenders and they were an elite defensive team because of Dwight.

Peak Zo did damage against real centers, Dwight got slowed down by Kendrick Perkins.

ZO!

And this is not me being a Heat homer. Dwight is far more athletic than Zo ever was. Dwight should have been better no doubt. But Zo was better and it's not even close.
  • Zo had a jumper from the wing and top of the key
  • Zo had a good back to the basket game with great hook shots and a "decent" turn-around J (he tried)
  • Zo could take most C's off the dribble
  • Zo could overpower all Centers not named Shaquille
  • Zo made players not named Vince Carter afraid to drive to the Rim
Dwight had the potential to surpass ZO but never lived up to it. And last i checked the only C's that gave Zo a hard time were David Robinson (speed) and Shaquille (power). Zo even did a good job on Hakeem most of the time

Why? Comparing Zo to a center who at his peak led a team to the Finals while being in the same tier defensively is now disrespectful to Zo?

Can I ask if you have a bias against Dwight for any reason?
They comparable on defense

Offensively prime Zo blows Dwight out the water

Not to mention he did it in a better era for centers and he had a jump shot and could shoot free throws

And about my previous post. This is not me sh!tting on Dwight either. I feel the cat gets sh!tted on and disrespected way too much as good as he is. I honestly dont think he did anything wrong in ORL and applauded him when he left LAL for Houston. He's one of the greatest combinations of raw power and athleticism we've seen at the C position outside of Shaq. But like SHaq he never developed his game much. At least Shaq had great footwork.

But way too often people forget how great Zo and David Robinson were before their decline/injuries.
