Visuals will be good, but there's only so far he can go without offending the white viewership. He's either going to have to constantly mention "africans owning other africans" or something to absolve them of guilt. HLG is notorious for this.
About 2 weeks. I stayed in Addis, Hawassa(my favorite) and Dodola in Oromo country. How long were you there?
he made this using tax payer money (PBS) so...?
I don't get anti Tariq arguments regarding his Haiti doc. If Danny Glover actually got his movie made, would folks be complaining that they had to pay for it?
Ill check it out he does good work but like other said have to keep your eyes open/on him for the slick ish. At the end of the day most of his projects are backed/sponsored by big corps at least the ones I've seen
Fukk Henry Louis Gates.
This c00n is the black face of white supremacy in academia.
Unless he's gonna cover the whitewashing of Ancient Egypt by white academia, I don't want to hear from him about Ancient African Civilizations.
The last time this fakkit made a documentary series about Africa he pretended like Ancient Egypt wasn't even an African civilization. He's a total shill for the cac academic agenda. Not covering Egypt is like not covering Ancient Greece when talking about Ancient Europeans civilizations.
He couldn't get away with that BS in 2017 with all information on the internet nowdays & controversies surrounding hollywood films that take place in Ancient Egypt the last couple years. I hope he talks Ancient Egypt just to see the fukkery. He's a total c00n that is controlled by cacs. I personally won't waste my time watching this garbage. And I can guarantee you it will be garbage.
Expect him totally ignore Ancient Egypt. Or pretend like it was not black at all.
Last time I watched one of his ancient african civilization documentaries I saw that shyt and was disgusted.
He's a total tool of white supremacy.
The c00ns are thrilled a white sanctioned version of black history is finally being released. You fukks can thank Tariq for this.
I'll be watching with my third eye with this one...
I don't really rock with HLG like that, but I'm in

And thats the problem I'm going to have. While slavery was BAD in his first doc about African civ he KEPT guilt tripping all Africans he was speaking to about slavery even when they were very friendly. HE IS notorious for that and I thought I was the only one. Also in his Swahili coast doc he kept guilt tripping those who don't subscribe to western terms such as "black" and "white" all at the same time at having a white wife.
Not only that but yoy are definitely right with the bolded as HLG doesn't even believe that the Ancient Egyptians were indigenous Africans and even attacked old African scholars back in the day like Henrik Clarke! Like I said I'm going to watch doc but I'm not going to get too surprised.
Its a shame that Mali/Timbuktu isn't going to be in this duo to the violence there.
Well shyt, now I'm less excited
I shouldn't be surprised I guess, it's going to be mostly white folk viewing it right?
Indie still wins out

Finally!
Thats who HLG is, always has been. I think he views Africa way too narrowly through an American lens as well. Its a reoccurring narrative in his docs to be condescending to folks who dont ascribe to identity the same way. He did it in the Latin America docs too. That being said, I think his docs can be entertaining and place focus on subjects that dont often have a wide audience. Still worth watching. And thats the problem I'm going to have.
