Another problem is that the game is being led by a guy who fundamentally doesn't like loot lol. Couple years ago POE1 added a mode called Ruthless which significantly cut drop rates of all items (including the most basic currency) while upping the difficulty/damage taken/etc. It became a niche league that was never popular compared to the regular leagues, but I remember people saying "this is them testing shyt for POE2." I thought that was bullshyt but lo and behold it turned out to be the case lol.

The baffling thing is that we all played Diablo as kids and remember the excitement of that one item dropping. Or knowing that you could play for an hour and you were probably gonna find something that made your build better, even if only marginally better. I dunno what Jonathan (the guy leading POE2 development) liked about Diablo because he clearly doesn't like decent loot drop rates.

At the end of the day this is gonna turn into a bunch of dudes doing crazy damage and flying across the screen no matter what the devs do. I think they're just trying to delay that point but in the process seem to be fukking up an easy layup. Diablo 4 isn't good and a lot of people enjoy dunking on it. But once the "haha Blizzard" shyt dies down and people realize they aren't that satisfied with this game...then what? I have faith in the devs overall but they need to start adding more shyt from the first game and get rid of some of the weird over grinding for shyt loot.
Many of these complaints come down to the game not having a crafting system (ala crafting table in PoE1). I'm assuming it'll be added down the line, but until then (unless you play the trade) game I can see the issue.

In PoE1 it came down to currency grind to get the elite items through trade/crafting. Some folks like it, others don't.

Hell, I was talking to someone the other day complaining about not getting gear/upgrading in early endgame, and they had no idea about Anointing amulets. There's plenty of avenues for upgrades, but the game currently does all of nothing to inform the player

The weird thing is that the crafting bench is what really balances the economy in POE1 while also ensuring even scrub players can get good leveling gear and eventually get to maps. The developers have said before that the most important aspect of the game is getting players to maps: if players enter the end game, even at a low level skill/gear wise, they are more likely to keep playing and spend money. It's the big hook in the game basically. So why would they potentially fukk that up by ruining crafting which will make a lot of casuals tune out when things get harder? I don't get it.

People just want to get loot, kill shyt, discover cool builds, and have fun. If people want more challenging content it should be like POE1 where there are plenty of uber/pinnacle content that's gate kept behind skill and gear requirements...but a casual player should be able to get through earlier levels of difficulty while enjoying themselves. There are a shyt ton of POE1 players who will never get to the Shaper or Sirus yet play every league and have a blast.

This is where im at right now. People shyt on d4 but you can realistically just play the game and gear urself out and be cool.

I dont have the patience for all this trading, rng crafting nonsense.

It's still early access.

People buying this and expecting D4 lite are going to be disappointed.

I'd say hold off until after the holidays. They'll switch some shyt up. GGG is good at listening to the player base.

But they are charging $30 so I will once again say criticism is applicable.

I’m still enjoying it.

Glad the bosses are difficult instead of face tank sim pt 2.

I don’t agree with a number of issues folks are having, but they did charge 30 for early access, so complaints are valid.

:manny:
This is where I am with the game. It's not perfect but it provides a better experience for me than the others games in the genre.

Also to give some love to GGG, this is early access. A lot of the complaints I'm seeing should have been expected and see to come from people who didn't research prior to jumping into PoE 2. They were always going to have loot be scarce and everything was going to feel hard initially cause we are still getting use to the new systems and playstyles. Power creep has ruined many ARPGs and GGG is trying to keep PoE 2 from suffering the same fate as long as possible. I would say unless you're an ARPG fan, it's probably best you wait until full release to play. It's unfair to compare it to others since they are full releases. PoE1, D4, Last Epoch, all had issues prior and after full release.

For sure. I've played POE1 since beta, I fully trust GGG long term. And like I said earlier, only about half the game is currently in early access. I fully expect there to be better shyt coming, plus the endgame will be fixed. I'm just saying that I question the philosophical direction that they want for the game compared to the first one. The crafting bench was initially in POE2 but was removed at some point. That type of decision tells me they want this to be something else entirely. A game where you might reach end game wearing the same boots you found at level 17 because the unique lets you do something that's kind of cool (but not overpowering). And I'm just not sure that's what gamers want, when most casuals get 1-2 hours to play and if they can't naturally find good items they will bounce.

I started playing this shyt. I picked the witch and am at level 10 at the Hunting Grounds. Game is cool so far. When does the difficulty ramp up? I tried Diablo 4 with a friend but it felt so brainless, it couldn't keep me interested.

The Hunting Grounds is right about when it hit challenging for me as a Monk. the number of mobs swarming you in that map was overwhelming at the time.

The endgame has a ton of issues and is kinda bad atm, but they've been pretty clear about how that part of the game is pretty much a few weeks job. Curious to see all the changes, the game is going to be very different in a few months.

The Act 2 boss is impossible for me to beat. I'm putting this shyt on the shelf for a couple of weeks to get my sanity back. Playing warrior feels bad.

Just knocked him off after around 7 times. Took a while to get used to all his mechanics and learning what he seems to be weak to
which is lightning. And you gotta up your fire resistances
. But yea he got like two or three 1hitta quittas that were doing me dirty.

Monk really comes together late Act 2 and and beginning Act 3 when you get Charged Staff. I just need to build up my resistances, especially lightning, which is negative for some reason.

Time flies when you're playing this joint. i got 54 hours in and it doesn't feel like it at all. Meanwhile, I got 40 hours on Veilguard and felt every minute of those last 10. Still haven't finished yet.

2 hours flew by like nothing. If it snows again Friday like they say it will, I'm playing this all damn day :wow:
