I could see why he wanted Pat, but it was important for Miami's future to let Erik take the bumps

but I do think that they at least stand more of a fighting chance in that second Spurs series with Pat out there. Pop cooked Erik like a blitzkrieg
I don’t think it would’ve made a difference. Yeah Spo got cooked, but they were running on fumes all year even while resting guys. With pat’s added intensity in practice, that might’ve made things worse. Guys looked to be running out of gas at various points of the year. Wade was in and out of the lineup all season, Bosh began working on his 3 to reduce the wear and tear of playing closer to the rim, Allen had a month where he shot below 30% from deep presumably from tired legs, Cole basically forgot how to shoot a basketball after the all star break, the lack of size/rebounding was starting to wear on them, the locker room took Miller being amnestied hard and there was little joy all season. On top of that, Haslem and Battier has played their way out of the rotation entirely by late in the playoffs. Maybe if the thunder reached the finals they could’ve won, but they just didn’t have enough to beat the spurs that year.

Why would Bron even want that? Pat is notorious for how hard he pushes his team. Wade is would have been pissed if Pat came back to coach because of Lebron

I bet he wishes he had Spo now
Its a weird cause I really think they win the championship with Riley that first year. Even with Bron's issues I dont think Carlisle would have outcoached Riley like that (Spo was still young) However, the Heat wouldnt be as good of a place today if they did.

But he outcoached Phil Jackson like that two series before the finals. :jbhmm:

You really don't think Pat Riley had his hands in the adjustments in that series?

The mental gymnastics excuses people come up with for that series and forget who the Mavericks beat before that series.

Wrong...He wishes the Lakers/him never traded for Westbrook and gave up all of those assets during the offseason...The Lakers' biggest problem isn't the coaching, it's the construction of the roster.
