Bron didnt shrink, they game planned for Bron to shoot nothing but jumpers/took away the paint. A capable coach would have been able to adjust around that and find creative ways for him to score efficiently.
That's been the gameplan LeBron's whole career. That was the gameplan when he played the Spurs 2 years later. He shrunk, choked etc. He let JJ Barea and Jason Terry outplay him and cost the Heat a chip.

Pat knew one gear as a coach, and that gear was overdrive. He overdid it in Los Angeles and Miami to the point that he even burned himself out. The 2010-11 team basically had 3-4 healthy players total all season I’m pretty sure. Not sure they could’ve handled turning the intensity up as much in practice as Riley was known for. That being said, there’s no doubt in my mind that he pulls Mike Bibby from the lineup a lot sooner than after 5 games of the finals and 15 games in the playoffs before that where he was useful for 2 total games. That probably would’ve been enough to swing that finals to the heat considering how close games 2-5 were.

Nah clowning cause he clearly trying to get the coach fired, same thing he did in Cleveland with blatt

Not really the same. He actively sabotaged Blatt, that shyt was disgraceful.

Imagine that sort of shyt happening to you in real life. If someone you were working with had more pull than you, didn't like you, and got you fired and replaced all the while not actively trying for you because he don't want you around.

wade didn't want him back though. riley was a great but man he used to run dudes in practice lol

back in 1989 the lakers were 12-0 going into 3rd straight finals then Byron Scott(3rd leading scorer) gets injured in practice before the series and Magic injured in game 2 and is done for the series

those hell practices in the postseason riley had caught up to him

Lakeshow was gonna lose that series anyways. Pistons were 1-2 shots away from beating them in 88, and were even better that year.

The next year that same Laker squad (minus 52 year old Kareem) couldn't beat Portland.

He still struggles with adjustments and redesigning his offense to fit the strengths of his best players :francis:. Pat’s been around the game his entire adult life. A burnout was inevitable given his personality type. He’s cut from the same George Steinbrenner cloth of “winning is the most important thing next to breathing/there is winning and there is misery”. The intensity was always turned up to 11. He doesn’t know how to slow down as a coach and he’d been coaching for 14 years by the time he’d arrived in Miami. By the time LeBron arrived, it had been 29 years since he first took a head coaching job. In retrospect it was probably unrealistic for anyone to think he’d be able to keep up that sort of intensity long enough to coach that particular heat team. He’d burned himself out twice to that point and still was handling his front office work.

Riley is a bytch for this but its not exactly news. The heat could have done serious damage if they had a HOF coach. Spo aint as bad as lue but he was out of his depth

I could see why he wanted Pat, but it was important for Miami's future to let Erik take the bumps

but I do think that they at least stand more of a fighting chance in that second Spurs series with Pat out there. Pop cooked Erik like a blitzkrieg

Right in the middle of Lebrons free agency. Wow how convenient.

Let me guess Riley fires Erika and comes back only if Lebron comes back too?
