LL wasnt unbeatable, the mental edge Roy had over his opponents would have closed and surpassed that physical gap IMO

Shame Roy lost that unshakable mental edge over a few pre fight words,, what your excuse gonna be tonight Roy, you could tell Tarver had Roys's soul after that

Roy looked like shyt in the first fight, barely won, you could've even given it to Tarver.

An out of shape lazy Lennox Lewis beat Vitali in a straight up war
he would KO Roy brutally

Funny u bring this up, cause I was about to put this under my unpopular beliefs, not only did LL tout that it was his best shape of his career despite weight, I truly truly feel had there not been any extra mass on LL he would have got dropped like a sack of potatoes. There was a lot of holding wrestling and mauling in that match, LL needed every single pound to out wrestle V Klit. Both Klits can be boxed but you have to be able to withstand their dirty ass tactics......

Honestly I felt Roy would've campaigned well at heavy, pre tarver 2. He could of at least picked up another strap and pump faked regarding LL, he would have beat the shyt out of Bryd, the later a Holyfield or Tyson. The division was his for the taking as long as he faced the older shot names......

After beating Ruiz, he should have immediately targeted Byrd. He should have cherrypicked the hwy weight division

when I say out of shape I'm not talking about his physique I'm talking about his cardio, I know Vitali was leaning on him a lot, but he still gassed way too early
he could've finished the fight by KO if he wasn't so gassed a couple times

For Roy Jones to compete with the good heavy he would've had to move up when he was younger, but at the same time they would be younger too
I just don't see how he could win. I mean James Tony beat Holyfield when he was brain dead and shot that shyt really don't count, but I think a younger Roy could have possible beat a young holyfield, but it would be extremely difficult for him

This.........

Just picture it

Fall 2003
Roy Jones Vs Chris Byrd
WBA/IBF Unification match

Don King talking that shiit
Byrd just came off beating Holyfield
Jones just came off beating Ruiz

This was the perfect match up. A unification fight with a small heavyweight that lacked power. At the time I was like why is he moving down when this fight is there?

It's weird, because now he is a 44 year old who will fight anyone. His career has no structure. None of the matches make any sense. He went from a guy that took his matchmaking seriously to not giving a fukk at all.

I don't see how anyone could have given that to Tarver judging the fight round by round. There is no way Tarver won 7 rounds in that fight.

The fight was a toss up, Roy knew that, which is why the rematch happen, I give him balls for even looking back his way...

Despite my criticism of Roy about roids, facing cab drivers and such, he chased BHOP down and exposed him and he tried to avenge a questionable match instantly like a man(when he could have waited a year or 2 for Tarver old ass to age), he gets nothing respect from me regarding those things

Watch the fight again. He clearly won the fight, he just looked like shiit doing it, which is why he did the rematch. Tarver won maybe 4 or 5 rounds at the most. Very easy fight to score. When Roy stayed in the middle of the ring, he easily won the round. Tarver won the rounds when he had Roy on the ropes.

Hard to say you clearly won when your back is on the ropes 95% of the time.....................................
