2 seconds of reading the OP and already know he does not know how legislation works. shyt on Joe Biden for his actions and inactions. Stop having opinions on shyt when you don't know how it works.

Also, as stated, Dems don't hold Senate currently. Sinema and Manchin are right-wing money takers who will tank the agenda. You would think by now people would know this.

That's your problem, you spent 2 seconds reading.

HE ALSO SAID THE STUDY HAD TO
INCLUDE NATIVE AMERICANS...
WHICH WAS CLEARLY HIS WAY
OF SHUTTING DOWN THE WHOLE IDEA.

Call his bluff then. He said he supports a study on reparations so hold him to it. Don't jump up and start speaking for the man. Let him stand on his two feet, chest out, and go back on his word.

Either way, at least Black people have a year 2022+ answer. All the speculation will stop and the mask falls completely off.

No, the problem is even if this was acted on, HR 40 that is, its a 90 day study that CONSIDERS a bunch of things. It does nothing.

Real action is gonna have to come from the House and Senate. Any information on reparations and the damage that has been done to African Americans is already known to these folks. This would be the definition of a symbolic victory. The bill is not that long. It doesn't do anything. Also, Dems "control" the senate by 1 vote (Vice President). That doesn't matter if 2 Dems went rogue and do all they can to court Republican dollars.

Here is what Biden said in his plan:

Tackle systemic racism and support a study of the continuing impacts of slavery. We must acknowledge that there can be no realization of the American dream without grappling with the original sin of slavery, and the centuries-long campaign of violence, fear, and trauma wrought upon African American people in this country. As Biden has said in this campaign, a Biden Administration will support a study of reparations. Biden will begin on day one of his Administration to address the systemic racism that persists across our institutions today. That’s why he developed education, climate change, and health care policies, among others, that will root out this systemic racism and ensure that all Americans have a fair shot at living the American dream.

he didn't include Native Americans when he approved that promise.

A study more symbolic bullshyt:beli:

I ultimately agree. But what does it say that they won't even push for something as symbolic as a study?

Right now only 64% of Democrats support reparations. That's enough for the liberal reps to support it, but the moderates aren't going to support shyt that'll cause them to lose their seat the next year just for mentioning it:

Poll Finds Nearly Half of Americans Say the Federal Government Definitely Should Not Pay Reparations to the Descendants of Slaves

Gotta get beyond the liberals and have moderates/independents backing it too before Democrats will advance that shyt, and you'll need 60 votes in the Senate to actually get funding approved.

That's whey California is the only state making progress right now.

California is a step closer to reparations

Thanks for the article.

I know support for reparations has been climbing. And I believe the 11% conservative support is better given that support was lower years ago, so I view it as a good thing.

but, as the article says

“For supporters of reparations, the next stage in the fight may be the education of the public regarding the continuing legacy and impact of slavery on the African American community.

the study will help with educating the public on the need (both morally and economically) for reparations.
