It's funny you mention that because I just read an article comparing the two movies. They asked Park Chan-wook how he got those scenes without the actresses hating him (because Abdellatif Kechiche the director of "Blue Is The Warmest Color" got shyt on by his two lead actresses) and he said "I just asked women for advice on the sex scenes" as opposed to telling them what to do.

It still didn't beat the 7 minute lesbian scene in La Vie d'Adele (also known as Blue Is The Warmest Color).

This is exactly the movie I thought about when I made my initial post. I think the sex scenes were gratuitous in both movies. I like my movies movies and my porn porn. It's not like Reese's! They can be separate. Blue is the warmest color was a worse offender lol. It didn't lend itself to that story at all in my opinion. Of course there would be one, but it was too much. I watched it at my dad's house and felt like a kid watching a porno waiting to hear footsteps and creaks in the floor.

I don't feel they have much more in common except the lesbianism and them being love stories. I liked the storyline of BITWC more, the characters were more fleshed out. This movie had a good plot line too, but I didn't care about the characters as much as I felt that I was just watching their story unfold. I loved the cinematography and the scenery too. Both of them were solid films to me. I like both.

Love Korean cinema not a fan of this directors movies and this one wasn't any different. Yeah the twist and turns got me... But overall his movies are not for me.

i figure some girl got hit with it not necessarily the aunt... but idk they did go out of their way to show that picture in the book... I knew an octopus was down there too when they showed it because that was so random..I just don't remember the aunt speaking on an octopus in her story telling. Also do you think he possibly killed the uncles body guards as well with the 3 cigarettes...? I know he got back to the uncle and he still got tortured but there must have been a reasoning why he tried to smoke them out

Im pretty sure he smoked the white cigarettes so they would have no choice but to give him his poison smokes when he asked for them. At first at thought they were opium cigs and he was trying to knock everyone out by smoking 3 at time and hotboxing the car but when they showed him tied up to that contraption I figured he had something else up his sleave.
