those witches, "the midwives" are actually ran by a dude with a ponytail who trains these kids to be in touch with the demon.
The boy HUNTER, Katies nephew who she abducted, and the young girl inthis movie were both born on the same day 6th of June the sixth year of the new Millennium (666). They need blood samples of these kids to give this demon a physical form.
For some reason they have these kids travel through time through a portal,bot sure why that was necessary.

Depending on your question, they give a bit more mythology of the demon and kind of explain what he's trying to do.
There's no real resolution though:
The demon shows up as a physical person, kills the mom and walks away with the kid.

the time travel door ok , but they wanted those kids to be part of the cult bringing back Toby?
Should've never tried to show the demon man. Seriously. What you don't see is scarier than what you do see 9/10

time travel was necessary because one of those movies ended with Katie and a whole horde of witches hanging around. Unless they absolutely needed ponytail dude, since he doesn't seem to be around in the future.

They didn't have a end game I think in the beginning . Did they explain how hunter wound up with another family randomly

The theory of kids being marked at birth plus the door/portal that links different times/dimensions. Also the tapes of Katie/Christie are first mentioned/seen in TMO and are pretty much the core of Ghost Dimension.

After reading the spoilers I'm more confused. I was better off not knowing why. I think the originally movie didn't have an explaination and over the years they just started pulling shyt out their ass. fukk this franchise
