People make too big a deal of height. Remember, the taller you are meaning the slower you can turn.

Darrelle Revis was 5'11 yet there were 6'5 physical freak WRs like Calvin Johnson who had phenomenal hands, yet could only manage 1 catch/13 yards vs the coverage.
Height and his athleticism helped him make the type of catches he made, those "Mossed" catches with people draped all over you. You and the DB hitting the grass on those.

People overlook the skills. There have been many freak 6'5 WR's in the NFL who have failed badly: not everyone going to be Megatron because they got the height and athleticism.

Need the coordination, terrific hands, concentration to find the ball in air, etc.

I don't disagree. But the height and athleticism still matters.

it does, but also the shorter height and athleticism does as well.

Many elite corner have gone to say the hardest player they've had to cover was 6'0 180 lbs. Marvin Harrison or WR1's on Super Bowl-Winning teams who were 5'10 like Antonio Brown, Tyreek Hill, OBJ, Greg Jennings, Julian Edelman, etc. because of how low and shifty they were.

Same goes for Von Miller who actually has below average arm length and height for an elite DE because he knows how to user his "disadvantages" to his advantage and gets low vs the taller LT's. That's why when he dips coming around the corner, it's basically over :wow:

Low center of gravities actually wrecks some match-ups that the taller guys can't exploit and vice-versa. That's why I say height kind of gets overrated because it's only one story where some players actually favor going against taller match-ups and hate the quick players.

All that is fine but you ask any of those backs, QBs, coaches, GMs to build their perfect receiver and he's not going to be 6'0" 180, he's going to have that athleticism while being a tall, rangy target. I.E. Megatron.

Some players wanting tall matchups isn't everyone. In the Big 4 sports size/height is a premium (varying degrees for each sports). There's a reason damn near all highly touted corners are 6'0 or better now.

Fair enough.

That said best WRs the last three years were Cooper Kupp (historical season at 6'2), Davante Adams (6'1), Tyreek Hill (5'10) and Justin Jefferson who may be the best WR in the league stands at 6'1. That 6'1/6'2 height is a great blend of quickness and size really.

I'd say Travis Kelce is probably the best tall player in the league right now and part of the reason is because he's also 250 lbs. and built like a tank (Luka 6'7 230 lbs. for comparison).

And the only thing stopping Kelce from lining up on the outside is not running a 4.4 or close to it because for all intents and purposes he's a receiver.

That's why Stevie Johnson used to eat up Revis. Ran routes like he was a pg using a crossover.

It was fukked up, but I chuckled a bit......and now that I'm thinking about it a little more NBA cats gotta stop pretending like Ben Simmons and Draymond and Lu Dort and Pat Bev and Westbrook ain't in the NBA getting by on athleticism and shooting like shyt. I'm sure ANY Minne fan would take Calais Campbell over Rudy right now.
