The worse thing I ever seen on TV was this week on PBS. They have a series about women in Pakistan. Lil girl was raped by four men, her family couldn't get justice. They fought for years, her older brother was killed... one of the men who raped her was made her legal husband, and in the end.... There was no happy ending. I was pissed.
A woman who even reports a crime there .... ruins her and her families lives. The excuse used to be...they didn't have the technology... now that they have the technology they won't use it, because many of the guys are from powerful families.

And my point wasn't that they don't oppress women in Pakistan.... I don't see how you can be a lawyer and not go there to do probono work (which many people do). Just saying oppression does happen everywhere. This world isn't kind to women.
