Went to a men's ministry at my church this morning. And my pastor brought up this point. And I wanna see what the Coli thinks. He argued that alot benefits that you see in homogenous countries won't happen here because of racism. That it will not only benefit whites but Black people. Yes, some companies have paid leave. But as a country he said that won't happen. Agree or diagree?

These types of conversations are always a bit disingenuous because some like to downplay greed and company exploitation of their workers as to why these things don’t happen compared to other countries.

It won't happen because it will be an additional tax on employees and many people don't want that additional tax.

In New York state I pay 15 dollars per paycheck in tax for NY Paid Family Leave.

Yes but its not as straight forward as people think. The real trick in the billionare class and politicians have made the concept of not being for universal programs. When you means test programs like, housing, financial aid, transportation, healthcare, and so much more not only makes the process more cumbersome to implement, people can campaign against it as (black) people getting free stuff on your dime. If these programs are free and taxed accordingly on the back-end, it would be harder to argue against good things because rich people will take "advantage" of it. But when things are more universal they get wide support, especially after they are implemented
