Mayweather Says Fight is About Legacy, Not Money
Floyd Mayweather Jr says his long-awaited bout with Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2 is more about leaving a legacy than it is about money.
The 38-year-old, unbeaten in his 47 fights and a five-division world champion, heads into a clash with eight-division title holder Pacquiao that is expected to set financial records - but insists his reputation and the education of his children remain more important to him.
"When you're young, you look at everything like you want nice cars, you want jewelry, you want a big house," Mayweather told mlive.com.
"But once you've been living like that for so long, it's not really about that anymore. It's about my children, the legacy, them getting the best education. That's what's mainly important to me. I don't worry about the fight because I know what I can do and I know what I bring to the table."
On his preparation for the fight, which has included chopping huge blocks of wood as part of his conditioning training, Mayweather added:
"I had to go back to where it all started. I just wanted to. Just for myself. Things just happen and you come up with different ways to gain strength, with the new era. But I had to go back to where it all started from. I like it a lot more. I like it. I appreciate it."
This hurts me for some reason. The GOAT Heavyweight of all time taking sides against the current best pound for pound who has represented black excellence in the ring for the current generation
A ignorant fool who wont acknowledge the fight didnt happen because pacroid gets weak from needles calling me ignorant remember when it was sign the non existing contract? glad you decided to let arums dikk breath since that was proved a lie...u ran out of obstacles now and moved on to excuses like floyds on steriods u sad little man we c u...may 3rd eggrolls for eeeerrybodyIm not making an excuse, im just pointing out the fukkery on Floyds part.. Obviously you're too ignorant to understand the difference, so ill say for the third time, Floyd gets credit for the win regardless of he's on peds or not.
I remember when Floyd used to say he didnt care about a "legacy"
Money Mayweather is almost gone and the original, humble "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather is slowly returning brehs
I just want both him and Manny to be at their 100% bests on May 2nd
i always knew floyd had power... if he didnt he would have got walked down along time ago.
Why?
Floyd has taken his shots at THE GOAT over the years, so I cant blame Ali for riding with Pacquiao

Has Floyd taken shots at Ali the Gawd? that would be blasphemy
With only one day to go before tomorrow’s fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley, Mayweather took time to conduct an interview with television sports personality Jim Rome on his show.
Mayweather continued to argue that he’s better than Muhammad Ali, saying “Why Muhammad Ali and not me? Ali fought Ken Norton three times and really he lost three times to Norton. Ali lost to Leon Spinks. Spinks had only seven fights, and Ali never threw any body punches. Just because I’m Floyd and I don’t take a lot of punishment. There’s nothing cool about laying on the ropes and taking punishment and then coming back and fighting again. What’s so great about my career is that I did it in great form and great fashion. I dominate. What so great about those fighters back then that’s not so great about fighters now?”

Mayweather was asked on a conference call a few days ago whether he actually believes what he has said in the past, that he’s a better fighter than were both heavyweight legend Ali and the consensus greatest-ever Sugar Ray Robinson.
He answered in the affirmative.
“Why not?,” he said. “I take my hat off to them. I got respect for Sugar Ray Robinson. I've got respect for Muhammad Ali. But I'm a man just like they're men. I put on my pants just like they put on their pants. What makes them any better than I am? Because they fought a thousand fights? In my era, it's totally different. You know? It's pay-per-view now, so things change. It's out with the old and in with the new. Things change. Like I said, Muhammad Ali is one hell of a fighter. But Floyd Mayweather is the best. Sugar Ray Robinson is one hell of a fighter, but Floyd Mayweather is the best.”

legacy huh?
so far the only ppl that took a L regarding this fight was the ones saying that floyd didn't have to fight manny and this wasn't a legacy fight for hom.
especially that one floyd stan year plus ago..who had the nerve to utter that floyd-manny wasn't a legacy fight and needed for floyd's career; yet when in the same breath mentioned floyd should be fighting amir khan overseas instead for money and, ill never forget this stupid phrase, "nationalistic rooting interests"..this was an amir khan that was a couple months removed from his life and death fight with julio diaz
to date its the still the dumbest thing that i've ever seen posted in this section.
